Human Capital Best Practices
Many “experts” throw the term human capital management around as though there is a clear and generally accepted definition of it. At Eno River Associates, we have learned, at some cost, that the meaning[s] of “human capital management” can be as different as the visions, values, missions, and perspectives of the enterprises attempting to apply the term to its business goals and objectives.
To Eno River Associates, “human capital management” is most meaningfully defined as the deployment of strategies that maximize “vision alignment” among the management, employees, human resources policies, technology, and the competitive business goals of any commercial or not-for-profit enterprise. Vision alignment can be achieved by using and/or acquiring readily available HR policies and information tools to establish metrics, gather data, and analyze the effectiveness, status, and acceptability of recruitment, compensation, benefits, and training polices as they merge with other systems to evolve a company’s culture.
